I don't know what exactly you use the lapis lazuli for, but I've been to Santa Fe a bunch and I know all that's blue and rock-like isn't exactly lapis, so make sure you have the real stuff.
Also, if you ever go shopping for Native American Jewelry in New Mexico, make sure it's made by Native Americans and not imported from the Phillipines, where they mass produce a lot of native-looking pieces.
